Sri Sri Rural Development Program bridges the needs and resourc es between the urban and rural populace leading to rural economic strength in the immediate future and a strong national economy in the long run. As a significant fraction of the Indian population is based in the villages, this program empowers the rural communities to attain and sustain economic strength thus enabling them to be influential in strengthening the economy of the country as a whole. An economically strong India can be influential in defining and implementing global policies toward promoting human values and harmonious living across the planet. Sri Sri Rural Development Program (SSRDP), established in the year 2001, is a community based program whose underlying philosophy is to share the burden and responsibility of poor villagers by helping them to become self sufficient and self reliant. SSRDP set out with the vision to be the world's preferred NGO for supporting rural development by offering vocational training centers supporting cottage industry and humanitarian aid by involving rural folks as its ambassadors. The uniqueness of SSRDP is that it aims and works towards an ecologically and environmentally sound society which is resources conserving, commercially competitive and socially supportive.
